Student Board

Jack Perry

President

Salvete Omnes! My name is Jack Perry and I’m very excited to be the MDJCL president this year. I’m dedicated to making this organization as great and accessible as it can be. Part of this will be getting feedback from you all to improve on what we as officers can do and making certamen more enjoyable for all! In my free time I enjoy playing Magic: The Gathering, folding origami, and gaming. I hope to get to know all of you in this coming year and do the best I can!

Johanna Pitts

Vice President

Salvete! I’m Johanna, a rising junior at Bryn Mawr, and I am really looking forward to being your VP this year! When I’m not at school, I’m probably riding horses, writing poems, or amassing wax to make fun seals and candles. This year, I hope to make spirit more competitive and engaging by starting new virtual events and working to update the MDJCL website with spirit point information. I hope to make more opportunities for spreading our JCLove to the wider Maryland community with varying service activities. I also would love to hear your voice, so please contact me at pittsj@brynmawrschool.org with any questions, comments, or concerns!

Caroline Makowka

Parliamentarian

Hi! I’m Caroline and I’m so excited to be your new Parliamentarian. This coming school year will be my fourth in the MDJCL and my first at Bryn Mawr. My favorite Roman emperor is Augustus, mostly because he created this quote: “I found Rome a city of bricks and left it a city of marble.” Firstly, I will follow through on my campaign promise and create a scroll of our constitution. Beyond that, I plan to make elections more streamlined and work with our Editor to discuss the constitution in the Torch. I can’t wait for this year!

Ivy Carver

Archivist

Salvete, my name’s Ivy Carver and I’m your 25-26 Archivist! This next year I’ll be entering AP Latin at Easton High School, and aside from photography, I like to spend my free time on the piano, sewing, or watching/writing about movies! I’m so excited to use the MDJCL social media accounts to further connect us as Classics scholars and show the world what we, the MDJCL, are all about! I’d love to get some art and local chapter photos into the scrapbook and onto the socials, and implement an online portfolio where all MDJCL members can see the photos taken at events. Si valetis valeo.

Bani Gourab

Editor

Salvete! I’m Bani Gourab, and I am your MDJCL Editor for the 2025-2026 school year. While I’m in office, I hope to work with the other members of the board to organize some virtual get-togethers such as game nights and PowerPoint nights for the MDJCL! I also want to increase the amount of student submissions for the Torch starting in the Fall (but stay tuned for an end of the year recap + Nationals Torch this summer)! Outside of MDJCL, I enjoy hiking, creative writing (especially Historical Fiction), and playing with my dog. My favorite piece of Mythology is the Odyssey :]
